Yesterday, our family participated in our very first booth. We sold bajan soup, limeade and cucumber ginger drink and we sold out of pretty much everything. A good day’s work!
That same morning I did a journaling workshop for 70 girls and women ages 15 to 35 at an empowerment conference. It was absolutely incredible and I was so honored to spend time with such self-aware and transparent humans. Even though there were pockets of madness where I questioned if I could get it all done, it turned out to be a beautiful day.
Wanna know the secret to my success (outside of my own family)? My tribe of mom friends. This secret group of sisterhood is so needed and so valuable that I felt it necessary to shout it from the rooftops this morning. And even if you have an amazing tribe, I wanted to provide some creative inspiration on how to continue to lean on each other in order to make life easier for all involved.
Before we dive into the W.E.L.L., I wanted to share 5 ways of how my specific mom tribe shows up for each other. Let me know in the comments, how your mom tribe rolls and hopefully, we’ll build a database of things to try out with our own village.
I just want to make note that making mom friends so you can get more done is NOT the point of this at all. It’s a two way street of support, encouragement and love that is magical and nurturing in a way that fills two or more cups at once. Do it for the connection it creates and not the coverage it provides.
Five (5) Ways My Mom Tribe Makes Life Easier (Plus a Bonus*)
School Pickup: Trade off picking each other's kids up from school and after school activities.
Shopping: Save money by borrowing items that would only be used once or twice a year.
Babysitting: Arrange a monthly babysitting exchange to reduce childcare costs.
Reliable References: Share trusted recommendations for services or professionals.
Family Photos: Take turns photographing special family moments or events.
*Meal Sharing: Cook extra portions and share meals to save time and enjoy variety. (My mom’s friends do this now and I hope to do this one day with my friends who know how to cook. Shout out to the “Bajan Ladies”. You are goals!)
Now, let’s get into how we can make steps towards building our mom tribe…
