First of all, mama, Merry Christmas. The big day is finally here. You made it and I am in my pj's clapping for you right now. My not-so-secret wish for you is that you get to fully enjoy this special time with your family and friends. I know you're already feeling the "what should I do next" tingle on the back of your neck. Resist the urge to add anything else to your to-do list or leap into planning mode for 2023. This is the time to fill your own cup with whatever makes your heart sing. You have so much more time than you think. Trust me...
Write
Everything may not be going perfectly but there's good to be found in every day. Too often, we work so hard to create magic for everyone else that we forget to capture some of that sparkle for ourselves. Write down your favorite memory from Christmas Day. It doesn't have to be a huge thing. It could be something as simple as the way your son looked when he opened his gift or how your uncle tried to cheat in Taboo and still ended up losing. This should be your time to move slowly, be present and focus on the activities and people that fill you up. Do not give into the pressure to keep producing. You will feel guilty for resting but push through and do it anyway. You deserve the opportunity to recharge so go relax and enjoy the art of doing nothing...

If that's you, just know you're not alone...
Love
Being in the moment can be difficult and like anything else, in order to become good, you have to practice. I'm not great at meditating for longer than 10 minutes but there was a time where even 2 minutes felt awkward. Mindfulness meditation has allowed me to connect more deeply with myself and with others. If you're looking for a way to be more present with your family and friends, I love this 5 minute meditation that specifically helps you focus on the here and now.
