As all the deals and sales hit our inboxes in the coming weeks, the thing that I am trying to focus on most is how my house feels right now. Yes. I could buy something beautiful (at deep discount) to cover up the stains on the couch or something festive to dress up the kitchen cabinets even though the doors don’t quite close properly. But this year, I have made a commitment to redirect my funds on refreshing my home to it’s former glory.
For me, that means buying paint for the bookshelf instead of new picture frames to replace the ones that are a little warped but don’t look perfect. I’m going to tackle the kids’ dreaded bathroom drawers and maybe get to the bottom of why they have 6 toothbrushes between the 2 of them.
Now' I’m not saying that I won’t buy ANYTHING this holiday. There is no shame in making purchases and everyone’s situations are different. But, the first step is figuring out where our priorities lie so we don’t swipe now and regret later. The way I’m doing this is to create a goal that is so inspirational that I can use as a guiding post. If I’m honest, I desperately want to have a home that is easy to clean. There are certain spaces like the kitchen and living area that are uncluttered and can be cleaned in a jiffy. But then there are spaces like the laundry room and the bathrooms that I absolutely hate cleaning which means they might not get cleaned as often as I would like (don’t judge me).
The secret to making a long-lasting change in these areas is to ask why you’re avoiding these areas of your own home. If you know your why, then you can do something about it.
Our laundry room is a catch all. It holds pantry items, detergent, tools, blankets, cleaning supplies and stationery just to name a few. I’ve never quite focused on creating a system for all our storage needs and it definitely shows. I’ll be spending some time this holiday dumping all the miscellaneous crap we have hiding inside the many drawers and cabinets so I can finally walk into that room and feel good.
Now, the bathrooms are another issue altogether. I am a bit of a germaphobe so the idea of cleaning the type of bacteria that lives in bathrooms myself requires me to channel my inner DJ Khaled and hype myself up in a way that is ridiculous and exhausting. But I’ve come up with a potential solution for that which involves buying a new gadget. See? I told you shopping isn’t evil!
This Cyber Monday, my eye won’t be on a new television or crockpot, I’ve signed up for alerts on an electric spin scrubber. Laugh all you want but I have high hopes for this baby. This handheld tool has a spinning head with built-in scrubbing brushes that power through soap scum, dirt, stains and grime with ease. No more hands and knees scrubbing or trying to maneuver a toothbrush into tough crevices. Just glide the spin scrubber along surfaces and let it do all the hard work for you.
I love that it makes cleaning quicker, more effective, and dare I say it - fun! The kids are even excited to try it out during chore time. I'll definitely be taking advantage of Cyber Monday discounts on these handy gadgets instead of stocking up on more stuff we don't need.
And while scoring an electric spin scrubber at a great price will help me maintain cleaner bathrooms, I know that's just one small goal towards creating my ideal peaceful, clutter-free home. I'll be spending more time assessing problem areas, setting realistic goals for organization projects, and sticking to routines so the clutter doesn't return.
This holiday season, I hope you'll also think about the goals behind potential purchases. Whether it's decluttering, home upgrades, saving up for an experience, or finally tackling annoying tasks you hate, have your why clearly defined. That's the only way to ensure you'll get lasting value and enjoyment rather than short-lived retail thrills.
Let me know how it goes! Maybe next year we'll actually look forward to holiday home cleaning if we have our new favorite cleaning toys in hand. Here's to more purposeful purchases and manifesting functional, relaxing spaces we love spending time in!

Wellthy Moments
Thank you to everyone who purchased the Wellthy Mama Guided Self-Love Journal during the launch last Sunday. I am overwhelmed with joy and am putting so much love into packaging every single order. Can’t wait to see your unboxing pictures, videos and reviews. Hope you love it as much as I do!
If you’re interested in getting an electric scrubber, I’ve done the research and this one by Labigo has great reviews and is on my wishlist. Just leave one for me please.
My family and I enjoyed the Christmas comedy Best. Christmas. Ever! with Brandy Norwood. It was just the right amount of cute, cheesy wrapped up in a good lesson. Checks all my holiday boxes. There were some suggestive comments so you’ll have to decide if it works for your family. Watch it on Netflix here.
Just a heads-up: the Amazon links in this email might earn me a little commission if you decide to treat yourself. No extra cost for you, just a sprinkle of support for your favorite elf. 😘 Thanks a bunch!
I side eyed the electric scrubber my in laws gifted us last year. Then I used it. All I want to know is why it took them so long to give us one?? lol #bestthingever
I hope you got what you wanted!
