I didn’t expect a deep truth to drop in the middle of Duolingo. But here we are.
Even though we’re on summer break, our kids still have to do reading, math and additional learning every day. I know. We’re the worst…
We were all sitting around (me on my laptop, my husband working, and the kids taking turns on his phone using Duolingo). My son is learning Spanish, my daughter’s obsessed with French, and it was her turn to give up the phone.
Let’s just say… she did not take it well.
Arms folded. Eyes rolled. Mouth pouted.
As the French would say Très dramatique!
And then my husband looked over at her and said this:
“Waiting is not the same as losing.”
¡Ay, Dios mío.
I was just drinking water and minding my own business.
Now, I’m catching stray spiritual bullets from across the room.
Because the truth is I needed that line more than she did.
I’ve been in a waiting season lately.
And I’ll be honest. It’s been messing with my head.
Not because I’m not doing good work. Not because I’m not aligned.
But because I’ve been watching other people in their momentum season
while I’m smack dab in my stillness season.
And that is one of the quickest ways to forget what God said.
To question what you’ve been called to do.
To start doubting your own lane.
But here’s what I’m holding onto now:
Waiting ≠ losing.
Waiting ≠ falling behind.
Waiting ≠ failure.
Waiting is:
🪴 Preparation
✂️ Pruning
🛡️ Protection
🕊️ Progress
🙏🏾 Trust (I couldn’t find another P word)
It’s God forming something in me quietly.
It’s Him creating space so I can walk into the next season ready, not rushing.
It’s uncomfortable, yes. But it’s also holy.
What I’m praying for in this season:
Patience
Presence
Peace
And eyes to see the good in the quiet
Because there is good here.
In the slower pace.
In the extra time with my family.
In the moments I’m not too busy to notice beauty.
In the words I get to write and reflect on.
In the space to just be.
If you’re in a waiting season too…
You’re not alone.
You’re not off track.
You’re not being punished.
You’re just being prepared.
Let’s not rush this.
Let’s not resent it.
Let’s be here with open eyes, lifted hands and soft hearts.
I’m right beside you in the pause.
And I promise you…
You’re winning.

I help women create simple systems that honor their season (with God, grace and a little strategy). Let’s hop on a call to see how coaching with me works.
With you in the trenches 💛
Good job as usual. Lots of food for thought 🤔
